How to render Main Category layout instead of default PLP layout?

Please read Category Pages Introduction to find the answer how to switch category layouts.

Main Category page default behaviour

If a category Listing Page Layout field has Main Category value on Magento Admin panel, the page will render nothing by default (blank space between header and footer). This is because Main Category layout does not require to render any product lists by default.

You have to create required Content modules within Contentful to fill this page with content.

How to add specific Content modules to the Main Category page?

Go to Magento Admin Page and find an ID of the category you are interested in (read more about IDs in Category Pages Introduction article)
Create an entry of “Main Category Modules” Content Type
1. Fill any custom Entry Title. This Title won’t be rendered anywhere on web site. It is required for the Contentful entry search only. So please make a proper title to be able to find this entry in a list of entries in the future if it will be required.
2. Insert category ID inside Category IDs field and press Enter to apply your insert
3. Create as many nested entries of Contentful modules inside Blocks field
  1. Feel free to reuse existed blocks if it is possible
4. Change Storeviews settings if it is required.
  1. It is OK to leave all checkboxes on in most of the cases

5. Publish the entry

Note

For Step 2b you are able to insert more than one Category ID. In this case created modules will be rendered in the same way for each of chosen categories;
Make sure that each of the categories, that you are providing in Category IDs field of Collection Modules entry has Main Category as value for Listing Page Layout field in Magento category settings (in Magento Admin Panel).
